One Million Experiments in New Orleans

Join One Million Experiments co-hosts Damon Williams and Daniel Kisslinger and local organizers for a performance, screening, and interactive conversation about the new liberatory possibilities already in the making all around us.

One Million Experiments is a film exploring how we define and create wellness and reduce harm in a world without police and prisons. Built out of a podcast and curated collection of community-based safety projects created in the midst of the 2020 uprising, One Million Experiments remixes longform interviews with movement workers across the world who have created community-based safety projects. 1ME expands our ideas about what keeps us safe, celebrates the work already happening to build solutions that are grounded in transformation instead of punishment, and invites you to participate in the joyous work of liberation. We don’t need one answer to how we get free–we need one million experiments.

In efforts to creater safe(r) community spaces, this is a masked event. Please do not attend if you are experiencing any symptoms – we will be hosting many screenings in the future and would love to see you at one of those!

We will provide masks at the door if needed!

One Million Experiments is a project of Respair Production & Media, Interrupting Criminalization, & SoapBox Productions and Organizing.

This immersive experience encourages participants to rethink the systems that govern our lives and engage in experimental thinking for a more equitable society. Through collaborative art-making and dialogue, we can spark meaningful change!

Event Highlights: Each film runs for 30 minutes, followed by a 30-minute discussion led by two community activists. This is a fantastic opportunity to share your thoughts and engage with the community!

This event is organized with the Institute of Aspiring Abolitionists, Theatre Du Mississippi, Advocacy Center of Winona, Community Not Cages, and Our Voices.
